The History of Irish Dance
Irish Dance is a Christian based art form. The dancing historically took place as an after worship activity. This is one of the reasons the dance attire is typically more intricate than normal dress.
For competitions and performances, girls traditionally have their hair pulled up in curls, and boys wear black pants with a shirt and a vest. The following video comes from the school of Irish dance that our club leaders studied in and provides a good example of these traditional costumes.
Irish symbols also have deep meanings relating to Christianity.
